WHY 'GO? My husband and I had three days available for a trip totally "do it yourself". If you have several days available you can deepen their visit to various cities and indulge in all the excursions that you can do in the area between the canyons, zermatt fields of lavender (in the period June-August), the ochres and maybe even treat yourself to a little ' relax in the beautiful French Riviera with Cannes, Nice and Monte Carlo. zermatt For a short break I can advise you to follow our route, packed zermatt with things to see, but in a few days ... so run run run! Maybe you'll be home a little 'tired but very satisfied. WHAT TO SEE? We left on Friday morning from the North of Tuscany, zermatt then in 3-4 hours we arrived at the border between Italy and France. First day:
The gorges of the Verdon river split the earth for 25 km, creating a distinctive and impressive Grand Canyon. From the village of Castellane to the village of Rougon, the Verdon river flows with emerald waters and following the winding road you will enjoy breathtaking landscapes. From the gorges of Verdon we headed to a small village that we had to be really quaint bed:
It almost seems to be in a fairy tale as you walk among the narrow streets and observe features shops selling products made from lavender, honey and the famous majolica glazed.
From this village we head towards Avignon (journey time approximately 2 hours), or rather in Le Pontet, a village a few kilometers from Avignon where we have a room booked at the hotel "FastHotel" (Avignon Nord Le Pontet). The location is very convenient as it is located just off the highway and about 10-15 minutes from Avignon Centre. It is cheap (we spent 39 euro in November in two excluding breakfast), rather spartan, the rooms are basically prefabricated housing modules but clean, with a little zermatt one bathroom and TV.
Next stop: Gordes, zermatt but first a brief stop in the beautiful zermatt town "ISLE SUR". We do not have much time to approndire the visit, but now we realize how cute is this city, crossed by several canals and characterized by old wooden water wheels covered with moss. F alvailable a car ride, a few pictures and leave again.
Roussillon is famous for its ocher-colored canyon, in fact, following the path of the ocher will be fascinated by the many shades of reddish and ocher of the earth. Recommended clothes are easy to wash and comfortable shoes and washable. For more information on dates and opening hours
From Roussilon again for AIX EN PROVENCE, where we spend the night. The hotel we chose is Ibis Aix en Provence, with an excellent value for money, about 10-15 minutes drive from the city center.
Aix is a very pretty and elegant zermatt with a very special charm. The real feature of the city are the fountains, you will find them in every corner and in every street, even the smallest (the most beautiful are the Cours Mirabeau).
You can not miss a visit to this city, especially the most famous promenade of the Riviera (Promenade des Angles), the Vieux Nice, the old town with old buildings, the old Jewish ghetto, the building of the prefecture and Cours Saleya.
A Monte Carlo arrived right in the city center, take a ride in the car, maybe even in the tunnel (part of the circuit of the Formula 1 Grand Prix, which takes place annually zermatt in Monte Carlo), the curve of the old station, one of the most famous street circuit and then there is the possibility to park in the covered parking for a fee of town (still the prices are not excessive). Also worth seeing is the harbor with many wonderful yacht and a brief visit to the Japanese gardens. zermatt
MY IMPRESSIONS TRAVEL? Provence was a really nice pool, we did not think could be so full of charm and lots of places to see. Absolutely the place we have left in the hearts of this trip was Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, a village really fabulous, magical and peaceful. In a few days we've seen things, done a lot of photos and the weather was mild, but maybe the only regret is not having gone in the period of flowering lavender plants ... I think it's really a sight! WHAT TO EAT?
